Solving the Homeless Problem

Dear Fort Wayne City Council:

A little over a year ago, after complaints of homeless people being “evicted” and their few belongings destroyed or confiscated, a City statement (see http://wane.com/2014/11/19/city-responds-to-eviction-of-homeless-from-downtown-riverfront/) attempted to assure us that we are a caring community.

Today, I hear that this “caring” was demonstrated by shortening the eviction notice from 24 hours to ONE HOUR.

Is Fort Wayne trying to mimic other cities whose solution to the problems of homeless is to persecute them until they leave the area?

A member of the council forwarded to me a message from an aide to the mayor saying that police had talked to homeless persons camped in one location after a complaint. Stated that there were no evictions and no property had been taken.
