I just clicked on a travel advertisement and read the detailed description of one of their tours. In fifteen days, you can see a little bit of seven cities in two countries. You pay them an average of $160 per day, pay for a flight to the starting point and from the end point. Any shopping you do and many of the meals are your additional expense. And they list the admission costs you would pay for dozens of optional things.
Then I did a comparison. Since I retired, I have seen a lot of at least twenty cities in ten countries, and ALL of my expenses (travel, shopping, lodging, insurance, food, etc.) have averaged less than $70 per day.
So, way more than ninety dollars a day times the number of people on the tour is what they are getting to do SOME of the planning and reservations.
