“So they used gestures to ask the baby’s father what he wanted to name him.”  (Luke 1:62)

Zechariah had been unable to speak for at least forty weeks.  There is no evidence he was unable to hear.  Yet family and neighbors who had been around him much of that time still had the misconception that inability to speak implies inability to hear.
